Veoliaforce

Emergency humanitarian assistance

The brief of this emergency humanitarian unit is to provide assistance as quickly as possible anywhere in the world by sending a team of experts and equipment to the affected area in order to assist the local authorities in dealing with the crisis.

In 1998 two major natural catastrophes (Cyclone Mitch in Nicaragua and the flooding of the River Yangtze in China) leads Veolia Water to create an emergency humanitarian response unit made up from employees, water service professionals - Waterforce.

The Veoliaforce experts also provide far-reaching technical support for stricken populations and communities through training and development work, in particular under decentralized cooperation projects in the Waterdev Program.

Training in providing emergency assistance

Veoliaforce also has a training center, the aim of which is twofold:

  • to familiarize its partners (military doctors, French Red Cross) and those employees who volunteer with the latest emergency assistance techniques;
  • to improve the working relationship between the different teams and to teach them how to work together under local conditions.
