Sustainable water management requires the participation and commitment of all stakeholders, especially citizens. Hence our involvement, as a local operator, in the life of municipalities, by listening to their concerns and fostering clear, transparent dialogue with all stakeholders. In the areas we serve, this allows us to provide the information and advice necessary for everyone to make "green" choices in support of rational water management: respecting aquatic environments, watering gardens at dusk or taking toxic waste such as oil, cleaners and paints to waste drop-off centers instead of pouring them down the drain.
Promoting eco-citizenship also means environmental education initiatives targeting society's youngest members. Veolia Water creates teaching and communication tools for children, including an instructional kit distributed in a number of countries. We also organize local and international events such as contests, seminars and water production plant tours. Children can learn about major water issues and the need to fight pollution and waste and then promote good eco-citizen practices in their own families.
Veolia Water provides schools with the water box, aimed primarily at children aged between 9 to 11 years within its many designated supply areas.
Since 1995, Veolia Water has distributed more than 20,000 water boxes in around twenty countries (Japan, UK, Germany, Morocco, France, USA...).
