Learning & Development

Opportunities for all

Developing human capital is a key element for improving the performance of water and wastewater services. The training and transfer-of-expertise programs implemented help the water and wastewater services attain excellence. Every year worldwide, over one million hours of training are provided to Veolia Water employees.

The challenges related to training and to transferring expertise are numerous:

  • To transfer high-level expertise to local authorities and share the experience acquired over time;
  • To adapt the skills of our employees to activities and resources that are becoming increasingly complex to manage;
  • To anticipate future needs by training employees to use new technologies;
  • To promote quality career development within the services.

Competency-based training approach

A specific tool to identify training needs

At Veolia Water Asia, we follow the Competency-Based Training (CBT) approach to identify the training needs of our employees. Training programs are developed regarding the competencies that are highlighted as requiring training.

ESPACE Veolia

A modern training centre established in Shanghai, China, in 2003

Opened in 2003, ESPACE Veolia hosts regional training programs for Veolia Water employees from accross Asia-Pacific. The training centre is part pf Veolia Environnement's global network of training centres, headed by the Campus Veolia near Paris, France.

Wastewater technical training centre

A practical complement to classroom trainings

Complementing the classroom training at ESPACE Veolia is the Wastewater Technical Training Centre in Zhuhai, China. This technical training centre enables plant and network operators to put theories into practice and learn best practice approaches. Opened in May 2007, it is Veolia Water's first technical training centre in the region.
